Union Conference To Be Held In Worcester
The woolen and worsted trade conference of the Textile Workers Organizing Committee of the CIO will meet at the Hotel Bancroft Worcester this weekend August 6th and 7th. Fire Causes Smoke At First Congregational Church
A short circuit near the altar microphone caused a small blaze at the First Congregational Church about 23 minutes before morning service. Choir member Pnoch Marsden spotted smoke, cut power, and moved the equipment outside. the altar suffered no damage.

Governor to Attend Annual Clambake at Soldiers Home

Drowning Victims Buried Yesterday in Bristol Harbor
Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for Samuel Spalini 20 of 30 Roma Street and John Caizzi 11 of 15 Roma Street after a double drowning in Bristol harbor Friday. Requiem mass for Spalini was at 8 am celebrated by Rev Anthony Barmotts with guard of honor by Junior Holy Name Society members. Caizzi was buried after services at St Mary's Cemetery alongside his guardian group.

Parade Opens Joint Carnival At K of C Grounds
More than 500 people attended the opening of a carnival sponsored by Bristol Council Knights of Columbus and Hope Circle at the K of C grounds on State street. A parade led by police moved along State High Bradford Wood Church and back to State. Vaudeville acts and prize drawings drew crowds along with booths a merry go round and swings.

Carmone Couple Celebrates 25th Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs Matthew Carmone of 75 Charles Street marked 25 years of marriage with a Sunday celebration attended by 15 relatives.
