The Rhode Island State Guard Company G plans a May dance for Saturday evening May 1 at the Armory foot of State street. A popular orchestra will provide music. Prizes will fill the hundreds of balloons released from the drill shed center. The hall will be decorated in seasonal colors and refreshments served during intermission. Seacoast resident Paul R Chionchio S2C USNR, son of Mr and Mrs John Chionchio, received a commendation from the Moroccan Sea Frontier Forces for salvaging material from the grounded merchant vessel Lancaster between January 2 and March 15, 1943. He moved 1275 tons of war material safely to shore amid high seas and heavy surf, reflecting U S Naval traditions.
