The drawing for positions occurred at 12 30 in the committee room. Mrs Grinnell hosted a shore dinner after the draw and judges then moved to the straightaire for the contests. Mish O A Bender started the hose reel race with J F Farrally as timekeeper. The hand engine events began around three o'clock with strong public interest. Details to follow in Friday's issue.
Martin Re-elected President of Bristol Historical Society
Bristol probate judge Frank L. Martin was reelected president of the Bristol Historical Society at the annual meeting on Hope Street. New officers include J Winthrop DeWolf Jr as vice president and Miss Charlotte A. Young as treasurer, with a slate of committee members and directors. A necrology was read and a sympathy resolution for former president Charles H. Liscomb was adopted.

Bristol police cars will be the first to wear Scotchlite glowing tape on their rear bumpers as part of the Lite a-bumper campaign endorsed by Police Chief Berrara. The Bristol Jaycees donate tape and set up taping stations with committee members guiding the effort ahead of the May 1 launch.

Forty Years as a Drum Corps Manager First Parade
George R. Fish recalls forming a Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps in 1913. A snare drummer and two buglers led their first public appearance in the Memorial Day parade. The group later joined with the Bristol Boy Scout organization and expanded as more scouts learned instruments.
