Anzio Beachhead Life And Lingo From Stars And Stripes
Reports from the Anzio beachhead describe smoke-screens masking ground action while tracer fire and shell bursts dominate the night. Soldiers debate helmet use and gear, with goggles common for all drivers and boots or leggings valued where available. The term Krauts gains favor over Jerry, and a Stars and Stripes poem and radio program are noted among wartime diversions.
