Town Council meeting bids Thames street settlement and more
The Bristol Town Council met after an executive session with Judge Edward L. Leahy and accepted a $9,500 offer from the New Haven Railroad for Thames street reconstruction from Franklin Street to Constitution Street. The council extended the railroad’s Thames street franchise 20 years from July and ordered bid specifications for the street’s rebuild from Thames and Hope to Constitution. Public utilities talks with Borragansett Electric Lighting and Bristol & Warren Water Works were read. John Grabert was elected Chief of the Fire Department, with four assistant engineers chosen. Daylight saving time was adopted again, and utility poles and athletic field permissions were granted.
