Town Hall steeple removed. roof planned for remaining tower
The condemned Town Hall steeple has been taken down by Joseph L Buttum. A section of the tower remains to be roofed over. The 124 year old building, once a meeting house, was moved to Stradford street and used as a school and opera house before closure for fire risk. The weather vane now rests in the Memorial building. Work was to finish today above the first balustrade as decayed timbers caused instability.
