Howard Knight of Providence addressed about 50 residents in Rockwell Hall outlining the sacred patriotic duty of buying Liberty Bonds. He urged each listener to pledge to purchase as many Third Liberty Loan bonds as circumstances allow and sought subscriptions through the Industrial Trust Company.
Reserved seats on sale at William M Connery's store for the NIR Orchestra minstrel benefit in the Memorial Ambulance Fund. The April 17 18 performance at Pastime Theatre features 65 chorus voices six end men five soloists and Flwnn E Essex directing the production noted violinist with strong state reputation.
A group of Bristol men met at the Bristol Reading Room to discuss forming a local Red Cross unit to handle disasters. Similar units already exist in Newport and other towns with doctors chauffeurs stretcher bearers and staff ready to serve in emergencies. A Bristol branch was tentatively approved with another meeting planned to hear Newport methods for implementation.
The YMCA announces Friday night meetings for the boys department. A. A. Bronsdon secretary of Drexel Hut at the US Naval Training Station Newport will discuss work among boys being trained for the colors at Newport. Many have paid $10 pledges to Red Triangle. attendees will learn how funds are spent.
Holy Communion at 7 30 a m and 10 30 a m. Sunday Brew at 12 m. Evening Prayer at 7 30 p m. The Rev Raymond M D Adams of North Brookfield Mass will officiate.
Town Council re elected Walter H Coggeshall as Fire Chief and Joseph M Edmonds and Louis Gladue as assistants. Dog Constable Philip T Morris and other posts were renewed. Fourth of July committee formed, tavern and victualing licenses approved, nuisances abated, and road repair funds authorized.
The Third Liberty Loan drive gains a Bristol unit with Miss Helena St. P. Case as chair and an executive committee including Miss Isolene N. Barns Mrs. Lewis B. Waldron and many others. A special meeting is set for next Monday evening at 31 Union Street, at o'clock, urging all members to attend.
