Japan As Seen By Charles Copp In War Talk

Charles Copp spoke at the Y about Japan, focusing on the people rather than war strategy. He described Nipponese as hardworking, artistic, and patriotic, with high electricity use, strong cities, and a culture of baseball and singing. He warned the war would be long and terrible, urged leaving the Emperor as a rallying point, and noted scant pacifism among farm families facing conscription. He concluded with a provocative question about the talk’s impressions.
