Amasas Reformation Tale In Voluntown Farmyard
Amasa Brown, once a drunken recluse in Voluntown, is visited by reformers who stage a mock hellish confinement to prod his pledge. They force him to promise never to drink again in a spectral rite, staged with a horned ox hide and a ghostly sheet, ending with Brown agreeing to sobriety as Soldiers' Home records note.

Sunday attendance at churches was sizable despite a weathered Easter. Memorial chapel hosted an Easter concert with Superintendent Chandler H. Coggeshall presiding.
