Banquet speakers face union charges over anti union remarks

ILGWU and NLRB prepare charges against individuals at the Best Made Dress Company banquet in Bristol for giving illegal advice to workers about joining a union. Cancer Control Drive Kicks Off April 1 in Bristol

Letters go out to local groups as the annual Cancer Control Drive begins April 1 and runs the full month. Mrs. Albert H. Flint Jr is captain of Bristol workers and Mrs. John W. Haley leads Bristol County. Last year about $500 was raised and organizers hope for the same total again. Checks should be payable to Woman's Field Army and mailed to Mrs. Haley.

Rostrum To Have Installation Tuesday

A forum and installation will be held by the Senior Rostrum of Colt Memorial high school in the Colt auditorium Tuesday. A committee led by Robert Moren will distribute membership pins to members with grades of 85 percent or better. Rostrum officers listed include Alexander Fales president Vincent Vaccaro vice president Phoebe Goulart secretary Mariano Buccio treasurer and Raymond Warner.

Admirers Plan Banquet for Marshall on April 20

A testimonial banquet for Town Councilman John P. Foxy Marshall will be held at the Bristol Casino on April 20. Organizers led by Caesar Brito list numerous Portuguese American admirers and a large committee including Joseph J. Herreshoff Launches Last Of Mine Sweepers

The last of two heavily built mine sweepers for the U S Navy was launched Saturday at the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company. The hull is complete but engines and superstructure will be fitted after the ship enters the water. the yard has cleared space to set up two more 160 footers under existing contracts.
