Reports describe Che Phenex explaining discoveries by the Austrian attaché in Central America with daguerreotype impressions of ruined cities. Nearby, the Lenox line on the Great Western Railroad sank into a swamp, crashing 20 to 30 feet deep for about 100 feet, narrowly avoiding passenger harm.
