The late Rev Bela Jacobs of Cambridge Massachusetts could rebuke with grace. He overheard girls speaking ill of absent friends and, upon learning one was called odd, he remarked she was an odd young lady singular in character and never spoke ill of the absent. The rebuke stayed with those who heard it.
