Bristol newspaper details weekly publication at two dollars per year in town and two dollars per year in advance for distant subscribers. Single copies four cents. Advertisements one dollar per square for three weeks, twenty cents per extra insertion. Twelve lines equal a square. Yearly advertiser limit of 28 lines per week.
A poetic plea dated February 14 1850 asks a beloved to visit a cottage scene filled with jasmine accacia and crystal spring. The writer Mozatte hopes the beloved will reign over his home and heart as stars glow in a tropical night.
The speaker laments the crowds and hollow flattery in Whittier style verse. He expresses fatigue with the mirth that never rises above base matters and the empty reverence of a mocked shrine.
Cincinnati Gazette reports severe winter damage to peach buds and young trees across Ohio and Indiana. Cherries and apples likely affected. southern orange groves near the Gulf destroyed and other tropical fruits also harmed by the extreme cold.
