Election Bribery Report Adopted by Rhode Island Conference

At a meeting of the Rhode Island Mineral Conference held at Brown Street Baptist Church Providence on April 23 1860 the draft on election bribery was discussed. The report submitted July 23 at Central Baptist Church Newport warned bribery harms voters and government, cites Revised Statutes 1857, and urges all parties to discountenance bribery and protect the ballot. The document was adopted at an adjourned Providence meeting July 30 1860 and ordered printed by the conference chairmen Joan Gano Richardson and Foster Henry Pawtuxet R I.
