The King has appointed Thomas MacDonogh, Esq to be His Majesty's Consul in Massachusetts Bay Rhode Island Connecticut and New Hampshire. He also appoints John Hamilton, Esq to be His Majesty's Consul in Virginia. Gazette.

The General Quarter Sessions of Bristol city and county, led by Mayor James Hill, enact rules to prevent fires on ships at the quays and back, forbidding on board flames and prohibited heating combustible materials except at merchant venturer sites. Violations trigger fines from twenty shillings to four pounds, with enforcement by the Quay Warden and Water-Bailiff.
In Bristol on December 15 1789 the Council warns inhabitants and others liable to Parliament’s order to scrape wipe and cleanse the raised footway before their doors each morning between eight and ten oclock except Sundays. Defaulters will be prosecuted and penalties will be levied upon their goods according to the act.
