The Bristol Gazette announces weekly Saturday publication south of the post office with two dollar annual option paid quarterly or two sixty annual. Single copies six cents. Advertisements priced one dollar per square for three weeks plus twenty cents per later insertion. Yearly advertisers pay ten dollars. Communications to the proprietor. sixth paper free for new subscribers.
The House passed a bill regulating the legal value of foreign silver coins within the United States at one hundred cents per dollar. It lists coins from Mexico to France and Brazil and sets fineness and weight standards. The act requires annual mint readings and reports to Congress. The debate included resolutions submitted by Mr. J Q Adams and a discharge of a select committee.
A 1934 letter from a gentleman in this city notes English plans to colonize the Eastern Islands with a Port Louis governor and a seal party as convicts arrive to begin building. The Halifax Gazette reports multiple maritime disasters and near losses. Survivors from the Astrea describe a collision with Little Sorain Head cliffs near Louisburg on the 7th, with only the surgeon, a carpenter, and one seaman saved.
