Brimfield Indians split two opening games in the TC A Conference. Yates City led early but Brimfield rallied for an 11-11 tie, with Jim Plack earning the win in the other game as Glasford topped Brimfield 9-4. Bert Ashley and B Johnson each had two hits. N Cecil struggled with control in the first inning.

School Photo Day Promises Crisp Portraits Friday

Pupils will have individual pictures taken this Friday September 28 with the high school first at 9 00 and the grade school about 30 minutes later There is no charge and students may buy photos later A suggestion for neater appearances includes dressed neatly hair combed and contrasting colors The pictures will be used in the high school annual and wallets may be bought for trading. The BBS Indians schedule two home games this week with Yates City Tuesday and LaFayette Friday A grade school game with Elmwood postponed to Monday October 1 will be played here The homemaking class will run play school observed by about thirty children learning about daily life activities and using existing equipment.

Brimfield PFA Plans Picnic Tables and Fireplaces

The Brimfield PFA and Brimfield FAA plan to build picnic tables and fireplaces in the northern part of the school yard. The FFA thrift bank continues, with Dek Sollenberger taking over as manager this year. Members may save by depositing ten cents to one dollar weekly, with interest earned from the bank and the FA.

Legion Auxiliary Opens 1956 57 Session Plans Girl State Report

The American Legion Auxiliary holds its first meeting of the 1956 57 year at 7 00 o'clock DST September 21. Committees for the year will be appointed and plans set for the annual card party in October. A report will be given by Girls State representative Corlee Pacey. Membership cards are ready and the committee will distribute them for the 1933 87 year.

Mrs Sarah Sloan Rites Held in Peoria Funeral

Funeral services for Mrs Sarah Sloan of 1223 N Underhill Peoria were conducted Tuesday morning at St Mark's Church with burial at St Mary's Cemetery Peoria. Born July 23 1881 in Mualibrook Township to Alex T and Alice McArdle McDonnell, she married Dr John F Sloan July 20 1905. She died in 1917 after fifty years in Peoria, survived by two sons John Jr and Alex both Peoria attorneys. one brother Alex predeceased her.

George Fossner Injured in Germany

Relatives report Army private George Fossner of West Jersey was injured by an explosion during a maneuver near Frankfurt. His lower left leg was amputated at a Nurnberg hospital. he expects hospitalization in Germany for about a month before transfer to Walter Reed in Washington. One other soldier was injured less severely. Fossner joined the Army in August 1955 and has been in Germany three months. His grandparents are Mr and Mrs Fred Fossner of Brimfield.

Peoria County Home Bureau Drives Membership Boost

County Home Bureau Peoria County membership drive began with 48 members from 22 units meeting at the Farm Bureau Building on September 4. Gerald Foster led the session as membership chairman, with McKarl Bants and Bruce Hunter as guests. The committee, including Mrs Ernest Magnuson and others, aims to contact every home maker in Peoria County to promote the educational program and invite joining.
