The Salvation Army relief drive under Supervisor Dungan runs this week with school districts conducting it. The apportioned amount is small and the township is expected to exceed the target by the time this item prints.
A public meeting at the Community Building on Monday evening arranged a homecoming for soldiers and sailors and a memorial tablet purchase. Committees were appointed to handle all details and will be announced in next week’s columns.
The Laura M. E. church ladies announce a chicken pie dinner at Beamer's Hall on Thursday October 2. Dinner served at noon includes chicken pie mashed potatoes baked beans cabbage salad pickles bread and coffee. Pie a la mode offered.
Brimfield High School baseball overwhelmed Elmwood High last Friday in a remarkable 14 to 14 tie at the school park. Brimfield led with a 1 2 4 7 inning surge while Elmwood countered with steady hits and errors. Batteries were Mullen Jar man and McDonald for Elmwood. Griggs Ketley for Brimfield.
Evening services will be held at Zion Church next Sunday at 4 30 p m with worship and prayer.
Robert R Marks to hold a public sale at his home located 2% miles northeast of Brimfield and 6 miles from Monica Laura and southeast of Laura on Wednesday October 1. Stock includes 12 head of horses 18 cattle 14 head of sheep 7 hogs and farming tools. Auctioneer Col McDonnell.
Mary V. Reece as administratrix of Commodore A. Reed's estate in Peoria County Illinois will appear at the Peoria Probate Court on November 3 to adjust claims. Creditors must file claims and debtors should pay promptly.
H L Fisher, an elderly Brimfield resident, died in Peoria yesterday morning from age related infirmities. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday September 26 at Brimfield M E Church with Rev D S McCown of Knoxville officiating.
