The District Convention of the W A C 8 meets at the Community building with a large attendance and an interesting program. Dinner is served in the basement dining rooms by the Ladies of the Lutheran church. The secretary's report will be published next week.
McDonnell Bros warn that promiscuous shooting and hunting on their pasture lands will not be allowed. They state that the law will be strictly enforced and urge all hunters to stay away from these premises.
An old fashioned shoe shop advertisement urges customers to send worn leather shoes to James McGuire for reform. It promises reshaping tans to black, straightening old footwear, and replacing heels with new rubber soles for fifty cents. Hand sewed sales a specialty.

Rt Rev E M Dunne will confirm a class of fifty children and adults at St Josephs church next Sunday afternoon at 330. Priests will assist and be guests during the afternoon and evening. On Sunday Sept 25 Rev John Harney of Chicago a Paulist will open a week's Mission. Masses Sunday at 730 and 900.
M E Church notes announce J H Collier of Chicago will speak at the evening service. Widely versed in law enforcement and a forceful speaker, he is expected to relate many items of interest about opposition to the 18th Amendment. Public invited. No Sunday morning preaching. Sunday school and League services as usual. Central Illinois Conference meets at Abingdon this week with about 250 ministers attending. Lay delegates from each church meet Friday morning.
Congregational Church notes announce next Sunday at 11 a.m. J H Collier of Chicago will speak on the prohibition issue for the Anti-Saloon League. Sunday school starts at 10. Rally Day prep follows. 7:30 p.m. service with pastor speaking. Woman's Missionary Society picnic Friday at Clarke's Woods for ladies and families at four.
The Bishop of the Quincy diocese Fawcett will preach next Sunday afternoon at two o clock at Zion Episcopal church Brimfield. All are cordially invited.
Elmwood gears up for the September 22 23 festival with a baseball and horseshoe tourney farm produce displays and free street attractions. School board rents the Baptist church for next year due to crowded grade rooms at 200 per year and moves one grade to the church across the street.
Lutheran church announces no service next Sunday. The Young People will meet at the parsonage on Wednesday.
Attendance is growing with nearly forty members at the last meeting. Your presence is appreciated and spurs the officers to do better work. Some degree work is anticipated at the next gathering.
The War Risk Bureau and American Legion plan a ten day cleanup squad in Peoria around September 5 to assist soldiers and sailors with government claims. They will work with the Red Cross, who urge every veteran to report for help and have cases prepared. Contact Mrs. Chas. C. Cason of Brimfield for information.
