Brimfield announces a summer Chautauqua financed by selling shares at 3.50 each. One share covers admission for the purchaser and their family to all events, with guests included if share holders reach 17. Held around August 10 with seven entertainments provided by the International Bureau.
John McDonnell born February 2 1950 on his parents farm east of Brimfield died May 9 1925 at the family home near Brimfield aged 66 years 3 months and 7 days after a pneumonia illness. He lived his life in the vicinity as a respected farmer stock raiser with his brother James, aided neighbors, and supported cattle improvements. Funeral services were held at St Josephs church at 10 a.m.Tuesday with Rev G Irish officiating and burial in Kickapog cemetery.
The weekly church notices outline sermons at the Methodist and Congregational churches, a 2:30 gathering at the Elmwood Presbyterian in collaboration with nearby churches, and evening worships at Brimfield. Activities include a 9:45 church school session, a 2:30 missionary study at Mrs Addison Pacey’s home, a 7:30 choir meeting, an 8:30 church school board session, and a May Church Council meeting at H C Cady’s home.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church schedules Sunday School at 10 00 and Divine Service at 11 00. Walther League meets Tuesday evening May 19 at Mr Charles Ekena's home. On May 26 a former Brazil pastor lectures on Mission Work in South America. Everyone is welcome. the lecture is free.
The Cemetery Supper organizes committees for the annual event with Country North East John Caldwell and others. Solicitors are to report Monday May 25 with the Supper Committee chaired by Mrs. E Yoakam and a list of matrons and helpers including Mrs. H O Cady and John Rusk.
Music by the Illinois Valley 6 Piece Orchestra at Hall's Pavilion on Saturday night May 16.
