Mrs Mattie Yerby announces the marriage of her granddaughter Sarriet Lucille Driskell daughter of Milo Diskell to Sergeant James J Webster son of Mr and Mrs Wm Webster of Camp Point Illinois. The ceremony occurred February 7 1943 in Durant Oklahoma. Miss Driskell grew up in Brimfield attended Clark & Co Credit office Proma. He is a Camp Point High School 1937 graduate who joined the Army Air Force in October 1941 and is stationed Perrin Field. The newlyweds reside at 412 West Horton Street Denison Texas.

Laura Items James Porter hosted Elmwood callers Thursday afternoon. Johnnie Whittaker underwent appendix surgery in Peoria on Monday. Mr Wm Daisy and son from Victoria visited friends Monday. Gerald Webster and family near Kenango joined Don Webster for a Sunday visit. Mrs Milla and two sons moved to a farm near Williamsfield Saturday. Mrs Car Fauth and son from Peoria spent the weekend with relatives Tar and Dan Kuntz. Mrs Richard Charnock, a lower grades teacher, resigned to take a position near Galesburg. Mes O T Wier and Mrs Wayne Colville of Galesburg visited Claude Lorance and family Wednesday. Mrs Clyde Naslund of north Williamsfield visited her daughter Mrs Howard Pierson and family Friday. Mr and Mrs Wilfred Beamer of Peoria and Mr and Mrs Merle Beamer of Princeville were Sunday guests at Hannah Heamer.

Altar Society Sponsoring March 11 Party at Cecil Store

St Josephs church Altar and Rosary Society hosts a party in Cecil store building on March 11. Fifteen games offered for 25 cents admission with all proceeds to the Red Cross.

French Grove residents hosted guests including Mr and Mrs W B Clark and Mr and Mrs Ralph Carter. Red Cross solicitor Mrs Leila Buodinus served the district. The Chas Duke family moved into the Howard house to assist with farm work. Lt Paul Shaffer transferred to Camp Louis, Billy Shaffer plans to return to Glendale California. Calls to George Martzias home included Mrs Fred Dawson and Alma Leos, and Dolores Ratcliff with Alvin Collins and son from Bloomington. The Improvement Society held its annual pot luck and yearbook meeting, voting $750 to Red Cross and electing new members Mrs Larrayne Carter, Mrs Phyllis Ham merle, and Mrs Marilla Stickel.

Prohibition Question Set for Jubilee Town Election

Finnegan Mourned in Brimfield Community

Mrs Margaret Finnegan born October 18 1865 in Jubilee township spent life in the Brimfield area. She died after a stroke February 26 and funeral services were held at St Josephs church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Survivors include seven children, one brother, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Brimfield Firemen Plan Minstrel Show

Brimfield firemen announce a home talent minstrel show next Wednesday night March 17 at Brimfield High School gym. M R Clark will preside with six end men Andrew Cecil Murray Miller Wilson Reinhart Charlie Sollenberger Keith Cecil and Ralph Carson. Proceeds go to the Red Cross War Fund with musical features by two quartets solos harmonica music and dancing. Admission 35 cents at door 30 cents in advance 20 cents for children under high school age.

Fred Harms obituary notices in Peoria area

Fred Harms aged 73 years 3 months 1 day died at his daughter Mrs Fred Fry home Tuesday evening at eleven. He lived in Jubilee township and at 414 Vine Street Peoria after retiring from farming. Ill for three years he moved to the Fry residence two weeks ago. Funeral services will be held from Gauss Undertaking Parlors in Peoria at a time to be announced.

Civilian Defense Meeting in Brimfield Village Hall

Brimfield and Millbrook share a defense area with W F Larding as chairman and Gerald Weinz as commander. Rudolph Savage chief air raid warner and Murray Miller chief fire watcher received certificates. District director J M Frost of Penn presented arm bands to trained personnel. A scrap drive plan and salvage film were showcased to school districts as Jack Birdoes and Berthold Razam addressed the meeting.
