William Gelling died at his home near Monica Illinois on March 4 1939 at age 75 years 9 months and 20 days Funeral services were held in the Methodist church of Monica with Rev A A Rodger officiating Burial was in Princeville cemetery Casket bearers were Binnie Millan Fred Belford James Calhano Charles Bock Charles Schaad and Ralph Moffit He was born May 14 1863 in Millbrook township son of Joseph and Margaret McKune Gelling He married Julietta Cowan January 1888 and they farmed near Monica He is survived by his wife Delia Savos three sons Ray William J and Ralph one grandson Ray Gent Gelling two granddaughters Gwendolyn and Doreas Gelling a sister Mrs Alice Whittaker and many relatives and friends.

Laura Royal Neighbors Hold Annual Party at Schoolhouse
The Laura Royal Neighbors and families gathered at the Laura schoolhouse Saturday night for a covered dish supper and social time. A business meeting followed and four new candidates were initiated into the camp with entertainment provided by a program of games. Out of town guests included state supervisor Gira Joneson district deputy Molly Ficht and Mrs Schrader from the Fergleaf camp in Peoria.

Our squad remained proud after last week’s tourney in Galesburg. In the opener against Yates City Brimfield led 44 to 27 as every player scored. Second game vs Galesburg ended 32 to 12 with Luthy fouled out. In the final for third place, Victoria defeated Brimfield 38 to 24.
