Farm Leaders Push Alcohol Dilution Plan

Farm leaders push early congressional action on an alcohol gasoline dilution plan. Chester C. Davis joined the Illinois Agricultural Association committee as technical advisor to coordinate facts, with state farm bureaus and associations backing studies and a limited test using 10 percent ethyl alcohol, pending federal approval. Taxes may be paid at Brimfield township tax collector Irving Bragg’s shop daily except Thursdays.

Shaw Waggoner Nuptials Unite Irene Shaw and Donald Waggoner

A Saturday March 4 wedding at C. B. Shaw's home united Irene Shaw and Donald Waggoner of Williamsfield in a single ring ceremony at 4:00 pm. Rev. R. W. Newell officiated. Irene wore blue crepe and carried bride's roses. Donald wore dark blue. Attendants included maid of honor Irene Bruninga, bridesmaid Maurice Rice, and best man Charles Hayes. The couple will reside with Irene's parents until March next year when they move to the C. H. Shaw farm.

Brimfield High basketball winds up season strong

A farewell home game saw Brimfield High win 52 to 21 over Wyoming as Pogers shone and Johnson returned from a month out. The team added a bi county tournament title with wins over Elmwood 43 to 18 Wyoming 28 to 11 and Lafayette 29 to 22. They placed in the Princeville holiday tourney after a 39 to 40 loss to Kingman Peoria, earning two losses in twenty starts.

Southport Socials Highlight Family Visits and Birthdays

Clark Henry Phares of Peoria called in Southport on Monday. The Martzluf family hosted meals and visitors including J.R Clark Edith Moran and Grace Martzluf. George Martzluf marked his 42nd birthday with an ice cream supper. Several locals, including the Wickwire and Martzluf families, shared gatherings through Sunday and Tuesday, with travel to Chicago for June Bandy and Frances Wickwire.

Elmwood hosts the district basketball tournament from March 8 to 11. On opening night 1 Maqnon faces Gilson, Dunlap plays Williamsfield, Brimfield meets Elmwood, and Wyoming faces Toulon with Central against Princeville.

Twenty eight friends gathered Saturday evening March 4 at the Shane school house to honor Mr Phillip Kellstadt and his bride. The event featured old time round and square dances with music by Walter Milfer and son. A coffee and sandwich lunch was served by ladies at 11 o clock.

Library to Close Overfunds March 18

The library board votes to close the library a week from Saturday March 18 and seeks funds to cover deferred bills and rent. Books must be turned in by closure. A card party March 21 will raise money for overdue expenses. The Central West Association of Congregational Churches meets in Brimfield hosted by Union Church.

On Friday evening March 3 a surprise pot luck supper was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Tucker for their 30th wedding anniversary on March 4. Funeral services for Milton L Gill at Monica Church

Milton L Gill 61 died Friday at his farm home near Monica. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Monica M E Church with burial in Princeville cemetery. Born January 10 1871 he was son of Clark and Betsey Hill pioneer Peoria County residents. He leaves widow three sons Harry Gill of Washington Everett and Ralph Hill of Monica and three daughters Ethel Sniff of Brimfield Clara Sears and Esther Thatcher of Monica.
