Athletic Banquet Honors Students at High School

The athletic banquet honoring students in major sports at the high school will be held at the high school. The menu includes prosene salad and crackers, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, Harvard beets, green beans, cherry pudding, bread, and coffee. Fire Chief Injured In Farm Fire Near Edwards

Murray Miller, fire chief, sustained serious injuries while battling a farmhouse blaze at Keefer farm near Edwards. A floor gave way as he entered the structure and a window shattered, injuring his arm. He was rushed to St Francia Hospital for treatment. The Keefer family were away at the time. investigators suspect the fire started in the attic and spread from a good start.

Heart Fund Report Shows $10854 Collected

Mr. Russell Taylor thanks donors from games, churches, and bake sales for assisting with the heart fund drive. Collections across activities raised eleven thousand eight hundred fifty four dollars, supporting heart health efforts.

Death of Mrs Birdie Penn in Oak Mill Peoria area

Mrs Birdie Penn aged 80 longtime Peoria county resident died at 8 10 pm Saturday at her Oak Mill home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Patterson Paseral Elm wood with Rev Howard Welch Brimfield officiating. Burial in Brimfield cemetery. Born Aug 10 1878 in Rossfield township she was daughter of Simca and Martha Hiedle Sewer. She married Robert J Penn Feb 2 1900. Survived by daughter Aire Minele Mallataf Elmwood three sons Sewell Lawrence Warner Penn all Oak Hill Robert Coulter Oak Bin two sisters Mrs Susie Coulter Davenport Iowa and Mrs Laura Wallicker Oak Hull and four grandchildren.

Ray M Hamilton Funeral Service Planned for Good Hope

Funeral arrangements for Ray M Hamilton of Good Hope are set for Friday at Macumbd Presbyterian Church. He died Saturday night in a Tampa Florida hospital after a six month illness. Survivors include wife Lois Snell, daughter Mary Sever of Hewat Lebanon, and two sons John Hamilton of Good Hope and Kenneth Hamilton of Brimfield.

Dr Roscoe Pullen Named Dean of Medicine at MU

Local news notes Roscoe Pullen, son of the Cahill farm family near Brimfield, rising in medicine. A Magna Cum Laude graduate at Kuokt College and Northwestern trained, he held roles at Charity Hospital New Orleans and Washington School of Medicine Seattle before becoming Dean of the Postgraduate School of Medicine at the University of Texas Houston. He later joined Columbia University as Dean of Medicine and published works. The community also reports Father Harrison’s return to Brimfield from St Francis Hospital after two months.
