Funeral for Mrs E M Maher in Elmwood Presbyterian Church

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Elmwood Presbyterian Church for Mrs E M Maher born January 22, 1860 in French Grove. She died Wednesday in a Peoria hospital. Surviving are two children Louella Ballard and Marl Maher, a sister Gertrude Schiota, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery with six named casket bearers.

Services for Fred Goetze Held at Bethel Luther

Funeral services for Fred Goetze, father of Wm. HH. Goerme, were conducted Monday at Bethel Lutheran in Bartonville with Rev. Frederick Range officiating. A retired farmer, Goetze served 16 years as a director of the Peoria County Service Company. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Florence Becke Mapleie and Hasel Winkler, three sons Edwardes Carl Goetze Mapleton and Jacob Osise Pekin, 10 grandchildren, including Wayne Goetze, and a Mary in Guam.

The DAR selected Mariiella Cox daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Cox for the award chosen by faculty from three finalists in the Sentor class. Joan Nauman Jean Hayes were finalists while Roger Best earned the Good Citizen award. Other candidates included Charles Cluskey and Mart Maher.

Brimfield 4 H Club Holds Second Meeting

Brimfield 4 H met February 26 at 2 00 PM in the high school with 22 members present. The group planned a next meeting March 17 at the third school from 7 to 9. Mothers are invited. Afterward games and refreshments were served by Betty Rae Harlan and Joanne Anton. Peggy O Toole reporting.

Galesburg Chorus Marks 10th Anniversary With New Cantata

The Galénburg Community Chorus of Galesburg plans the April premiere of Lars McKinley praised cantata Fire Kia conducted by Knox College’s Thomas W Williams. Grace Foote of Illinois sings key alto role as the chorus, founded in 1946, celebrates a decade of community choral culture. The group traces its roots to 1885 under William Bentley at Knox Conservatory.
