Road Work Progress on 91 And 78 In Town

Construction crews continue on 91 east of town with shoulder gutter and culvert work. The 78 route is being secured for later traffic, while deeds are filed in Springfield and a start date for the next phase remains unsettled.

Memorial poems mark Akron club tribute to two members

The Parent Teacher's Club of Akron Colorado honored the memory of Mrs. Ray Culbertson and Mrs. Grace Gibbons at its last meeting with appropriate exercises. A poem by Margaret Widdenmer was read about a mother as a guiding, watchful presence from heaven, awaiting her children and keeping them in memory.

Victory over Prejudice sermon and Dust of the Road play

The Union Church announces a Sunday service with a sermon on Victory over Prejudice ahead of Independence Day. At 7:30 pm the play Dust of the Road by Kenneth Sawyer Goodman will be performed, featuring Gladys Carter and others. School sessions and youth camps are noted, with a singing gathering Thursday at Mildred Pacey’s home.

Methodist Notes Sunday Services and July Break

The Methodist church schedules Sunday School at 10:00 am and Morning Worship at 11:00 am with sermons on Spiritual Food and Keeping Great Experiences Vital. Communion will be next Sunday. Evening Worship at 7:30 pm. Pastor to depart for vacation next week so July worships canceled, resuming August 8. Official Board to hold July session after Sunday evening service on July 1. Supervised play on the Sunday school playground set for July 4:30 to 5:30 pm daily except Saturday and Sunday.
