Memorial tributes mark Illinois House session tribute to dead lawmakers
Memorial exercises in the Illinois House honored fifteen members who died in the previous two years. Speakers recalled a quarter century of legislation as garlanded desks and a May 30 gathering acknowledged the lives and public service of Browne Curran Wilson and others. Luckey delivered the memorial address as Igoe Conerton Soderstrom Henney and many others spoke on the deceased. The session also saw debate over tax and county measures, including an income tax bill defeat and a Cook and St Clair county tax increase bill advancing with referendum. Gov Emmerson announced state fair advisory board appointees Tice and MacQueen while other bills passed or stalled in the Senate and House.
