Brimfield Band, under director Mareig Boda, opens the summer concert series Saturday night June 9 at 8 pm in City Park. The program features Washington and Lee Swing, Blue Dasube, Boom Town march, a novelty number retelling a parade story, Hilltoppers march, a Latin Samba Apa Cabana, and various waltzes and marches.

Mr and Mrs Harlew Reed and Mr and Mrs James Kemper attended at Meed home in Elmwood. Mrs Tom Muller attended a birthday party for Aunt Miss Arosa King in Toulon. Mr and Mrs Brerett Barrett arrived from Whittier to visit their mother Jennie Barrett and Greta Strickland. Mr and Mrs Robert Laisure and Permilla Laisure of Peoria, Merle Carter and two daughters of Tulsa, Mrs Vicy Reed and two children of Williamsfield, Vida Bearschamp, Corse Laisere. Wallie Emerick and son and Harley Rees joined Kemper for a yard picnic on Sunday.

Miss Hope Hartley daughter of Oak Hill residents and Donald Hayden son of Dearborn residents wed May 19 at the Hartley home. Rev. Kammeyer officiated with Marilee Porter matron of honor and Stuart Baylen best man. About fifty guests attended from Dearborn Kohomo Lombard Evanston and Chicago. Both honorees are graduates and employed by United Airlines at Midway Airport. They plan to live in Worth Illinois.
The June 10 Children’s Day program at Union Church begins at 10 30 a m with the pageant Wings Over The World. There will be only the morning service and no church school or other service.
Mrs Rosella Banlon expresses gratitude to relatives and 220 neighbors for cards while hospitalized and after returning home. She appreciates all acts of kindness and the warm support shown during her illness and recovery.
Elmwood residents and nearby communities paid tribute to Dr Morton Mee for his 62 years as a general practitioner. The service honored his lifetime of local medical care and civic involvement across a wide area.
A fair crowd gathered at the village park for Memorial Day. The monument was dedicated with a bronze plaque honoring World War I soldiers. Lt Gol McGarr gave an air force update, Thea. C. Harricon delivered invocation and benediction, and the school band under Harold Dodd provided music. Lyle Talm age supervised the event.
A reader notice describes two wandering baskets used by Junior Pilgrim Fellowship to raise funds for a trip in Kentucky. Donors are expected to refill the basket and pass it on. Contact Moanilon Grane at 7588 to arrange pickup or participation.
