Sealed Corn Drives Farmers to Seek Releases
Rising corn prices and feed shortages across the corn belt push farmers with government corn loans to seek releases. The Peoria County Farm Bureau reports many requests to secure releases from the Commodity Credit Corporation via local banks. The procedure requires the bank to notify the CCC that payment is ready. only then may the seal be broken and corn delivered. The CCC in Chicago notes about 200 daily release requests.
