Historical agricultural notes and local Gleanings list crop prices oats and corn for various years, names of residents and stores, and mentions school events and local figures across Elmwood Brimfield Princeville and surrounding towns. The entries reference pur chased properties, commencements, and a medical convention. several lines note weather, planting, and county athletic results.
The New York Times editorialized on the AMA centennial praising its role in improving public health. It cited opposition to some policies but credited the association with advancing food and drug standards, quack suppression, hospital approval, and dissemination of medical knowledge.
The Brimfield Alumni softball team will play at Kewanee Friday evening and again Sunday evening Fyoming Plays there for a C league encounter. Cattos recently bought Dura Pelver farm northeast of Ctty.
Eighth graders earned diplomas at a district ceremony held in the high school gym on Wednesday evening. Principal Earl Pincher gave the address. Diplomas were awarded by Mr Brasmer to Brimfield pupils Decance Baysingar Donald Tarrer Richard Reiohast Jack Powers Donald Edwards Marvin Scott Geraldine Tosh Xosmary Maher Mae Beam Verna Bayraingar Joyce Smith and Elizabeth Oakes. Additional graduates came from Edwards Golden Knoll Bramble Kickapoo and Warne Coon from Radley.
The B Club announces a memorial plaque for Brimfield high school WWII honorees. A public dedication is set at the school gym Sunday evening June 15 at 8 30. Four alumni named are Phillip Krummel George Edwards William Shaffer and Rollana Gatton.
Coach J R Braamer inspired Brimfield High to form a memorial letters club. The group includes B H and lettermen with a goal to raise funds for a plaque in the school gym to honor those who died in World War II. Acting secretary Joseph R Blundy invites overlooked lettermen to contact.
Mr and Mrs James Kemper spent Sunday with his mother Mrs Della Leach in Peoria. Mr and Mrs William Brown returned from California with daughter and family. Dale Kirtley’s parents welcomed a six pound boy at St. Francis hospital in Peoria May 27. June Royal Neighbors meeting was at Mrs Hannah Blamer’s home. Galenburg trip and Mila Miller’s return from a four day visit with Thomas Miller. Visitors included Mrs Jennie Barrett Mrs Greta Striesland and son Millie at Lee Burgess’s home. Mrs Atha Duervant began work at TB sanatorium in Peoria and will room with Eva Collins.
Mr and Mrs W B Clark were sales burg calere Monday. Mr and Mrs C L Mechellan were Monday callers at H L Reed. Mrs A R Moore and Fleannr spent Tuesday with Mrs C F Adams in Galesburg. Mr and Mrs Floyd Grittingham and family visited the home of her sister Mrs Angua Moore. Mrs Verne Shaffer is making a good recovery from surgery in Peoria. Mr and Mrs Lot Shaffer and family attended a family dinner at the Stanton Moore home. Gertrude Kloge, taught at Eagle Grove last year. Iena arrived home Tuesday for summer vacation. Missy Johah Oakes and Robah Kelinee of Chicago visited home talks Thursday evening to Monday afternoon. At Princeville high commencement exercises Thursday evening Puth Ann Oakes was named one of the Honor Fees. Miss Eudora Smith, Mr and Mrs Fred Klatt, Miss Clarabelle Rynearson of St. Louis and Mr and Mrs Earl Keno visited Mr and Mrs F M Oakes and other cousins here Memorial Day.

Peoria Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a Flag Day program on Tuesday June 20 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs Luthy Farm Oak Hill with Mrs Maury Illinois State Regent as guest. All members of the DAR and B AR in the community are invited.
Zion Episcopal Church will host special services on June 15 at 11 00 a m. Rt Reverend W L Resex Bishop of the Diocese of Quincy will officiate Elmer Luthy of Peoria will be the soloist Mrs Fielding Brara of Peoria will serve as organist All are invited to attend.
A shower for Bertha Carter, bride-to-be of Louis Stoecker, was hosted by her aunt Gladys Hawley in Brimfield. Guests enjoyed readings, games, and gifts, with prizes awarded to several attendees and refreshments served to listed guests and absent gifters.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at Guior Church at two o'clock for George A La Follette longtime resident. He died Tuesday morning at home after a long illness and is survived by his wife three children Mrs Gladva Slocum and Melva La Follette of Elmwood four grandchildren a brother Willis La Follette and a sister Mrs J D Nichols of Peoria.
Mr and Mrs E B Kornmeyer of Farmington announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Donna Jeao Kornmeyer to E Dean Poling son of Mr and Mrs E L Poling of Farmington. The wedding is planned for Sunday June 22. Donna attended Farmington Community High School and worked at Black and Decker Kuhl Co in Peoria. Dean Poling, also a Farmington High graduate, served three years in the U S Navy. He has been at Bradley University this past year and plans to enter Illinois Wesleyan University to study for the ministry next year.

The Glasford County American Legion will host its annual meeting on June 16 at 8 p m in Glasford. The Strawberry Festival is noted as a renowned Legion event with guest speaker Department Commander Was. P. Eleva kena expected among many visiting Legionaires. Attendance limited to Legionnaires.
