Miss Marion linch of Elmwood spent Friday with her sister Mrs George Moore and family. Mr and Mrs Barey Reed, Mra James Kemper and Frank Kemper were Galesburg callers Wednesday morning. Mrs Hester Weir and Mrs Wayne Colville of Galesburg spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Claude Lorance and daughters. Mr and Mrs Sam Williams of Peoria and Mr and Mrs Wm. Chapman were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Russell Purcell and children. Earl Burgess of Princeville and Mr and Mrs Peed Steinman were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs Paul Burgess and children, helping Dickie celebrate his birthday. Mrs Merle Carter and daughters Marilyn and Dorothy Kay arrived from Tulsa, Ohio. Priday evening for a visit with air and Mrs James Kemp er and Mr and Mrs Harley Reed. Mr and Mrs Walter Mulvaney and Mrs Paul Mulvaney visited Paul at Hines hospital Sunday and Monday. Mrs Arthur Bunkler Minnie Chambers and Mrs Fred Dawson called at Tom Murdock home Tuesday. Erna Lowery, daughter of former Marie Harding of Peoria, guests of cousin Mrs Glorence Libby and Samuary. Mrs H G Petticrew of Geary Oklahoma arrived Tuesday evening to visit sister Mrs C L McClellan. Mrs Roy Cecil returned from weeks in St Francis hospital. Meand-Mrae-Karl-Peterscon and son and Mr and Mrs Gussie Ristils and son of Peoria visited Fred Dawson home Sunday. A severe storm caused wind and hail damage across the west township. In Shissler seed corn fields hail stripped stalks while detasseling boys suffered bruises. Trees fell on cars, damaging several vehicles as dark clouds moved north to south.
On Monday August 2 J A Hayes retires after thirty three years as county superintendent of schools and transfers the office to B E Downing elected last November. Hayes leaves the system in improved condition and plans a rest before new work in a cow field. He is wished well by thousands of friends from his long service.
Senator Lucas will speak Friday at 9 p.m. on national matters during Princeville Homecoming. Col. Armstrong and Rep. Dirgzsen join as speakers across Thursday and Saturday.
