The Files Cloudy this week notes Rook and Saylor opening a meat market. Market readings show varied prices for corn, wheat, batter, eggs, and hogs with occasional low temperatures and impassable roads. Eleanor Coolidge takes superintendent role at the recently finished Buchler home in Peoria.
The letter discusses confusion over reporting a member registration tally. The writer recalls the count was to be kept secret by military rules and a committee. They note county papers published the numbers elsewhere and question local outlets for not publishing.
The band mothers held a meeting Monday afternoon at four o clock at the high school. Mr Browe plans to attend and wishes to meet all band mothers to discuss band matters.
Tax collector Brimfeld township will visit Johnson-Arberatore area daily through May 2 1942 except Thursdays at the News office in Brimfeld every Saturday and at Smith's Hardware in Princeville on Wednesdays. Mrs Everett Gatton identified as collector.

The sacred honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity has been conferred on Rev. G. P. Burdon pastor of Montrose Methodist Church Terre Haute Indiana by Amenicae Bible college. Burdon is president of the Terre Haute Ministerial Association and serves on civilian defense committees and in church civic work. He and his family are well known here his wife being Laura Qobb daughter of Mrs. Walker Marshall.
At the grade school mothers club meeting on Thursday March 5 at 7 30 pm Mrs Walter Neal of Chillicothe will speak on How the AAA in meeting the National Emergency. All mothers and their friends are urged to attend.
The Elmwood Soil Conservation District 12 holds its first annual meeting on Monday March 2 at 1 30 p m in the district office on the west side of the square in Elmwood The session will elect two directors for 1942 and feature Dr A L Lang from the University of Illinois speaking on The Use of Commercial Fertilizers in Crop Production All farmers are invited to attend.
Mrs Henrietta Guyer who has waited for relatives in Geneva Nebraska will spend a couple of weeks in Galesburg with friends before returning home.
Laura Ktems Rrth Ann Moore of Peoria spent the weekend at the George Moore home. William McDonna and son Billy were Peoria callers Saturday after noon. Mrs Bertha Pierson of Pleasant Pill spent Satuday here at the Howard Pierson home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Duffy and son Billy spent Saturday evening in Victoria with relatives. Mrs Wm MonDonna called on her folks Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Racer in Monica Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Don Webster and children spent Sunday afternoon at the Gerald Webster home near Kewanee. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Burgess of Monica Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lots of Princeville and Mrs. Greta Strickland of Duncan spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Jennie Barrett.

Attendees include Hulda Anderson, Lura Bennett, Leila Bodinus, Carter family, Dottie Clark, Mystice Coe, many named members.
Brimfield overwhelmed Elmwood on Tuesday evening. Lyle Johnson led Brimfield with 13 points, Cluskey added 10, and Maller led the visitors with 132, while Elmwood struggled to keep pace in the early 13 to 0 run and throughout.
Two choruses prepare for district contests in Galesburg. The girls chorus of 24 will sing Vespers by Leom and The Robin In The Rain by Noble Cain. Mixed chorus of 47 voices selects Cherubim Song and Morning Now Beckons with listed sopranos altos and tenors across many local names.
Brimfield Red Cross chapter reports a $300 check from Mildland Electric Coal Corporation of Farmington. Three Brimfield employees Aldon P. Geman Carl Rogers and John E. Rook contributed personally to the donation.
Those who have registered for volunteer civilian defense work may report to Chas. McGateey's garage. Blanks are available at all times for registration for the Victory campaign or see W. F Harding, chairman. Call or see Keith Arnold for salvage of cardboard and paper for defense.
Mrs Martha M Coon 80 died at her daughter Carye Vouster home in Yates City after six weeks illness. Born May 31 1861 near Trivoli Penn Ridge she married Oscar Coon in 1881. Survived by five children twenty grandchildren and forty great grandchildren with burial at Elmwood Cemetery after services at the Yates City Methodist Church. Rev AG W Gemmara officiated with organist and quartet.
Niuleen Muvaney daughter of Mr and Mrs W Mulvaney Brimfield Illinois and Daoteldeecon retgatter Ir of Ceptraia Illinois were married Saturday Feb 14 at 304 am at St Cecilia rectory. Rev Fy Jordam performed the ceremony in front of immediate relatives with the single ring method. The bride wore aqua blue gown with tan accessories and a yellow throat bouquet. Milas Betty Curaca was her attendant in chocolate brown with tan accessories. The groom John Waweius of Centralia was the best man. Reception 2 to 4 pm at the bride’s grandmother home with lace table, pink and white tapers and a wedding cake centerpiece. Mrs Mulvaney hosted a dinner Feb 15 for relatives. Fetgattier attended Centralia Township High School and is employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company.
Brimfield High placed well at district music contests in Galesburg on Saturday. The Gils ensemble of eight voices under Curran earned first division status, earning a chance to compete at the Peoria sectional on April 11. Sopranos Robah Wyceff Jean Marie Sloam. altos Joe Ann Kingdon Barbara Chase Grace Wagner. second sopranos Marietta Edwards Lene Miller Beverley Christian. Five vocal soloists entered, ranking in the third division. Rebah Wycof Barbara Chase Otto Geltner and Richard Savage each earned second place medals. The day included close competition and guests of director Miss Kathryn Linastrom and her mother.
