First Snow Storm Delays Virginia Settler in 1914
In Amelia Virginia on February 13 1914 David Hindle writes of a six inch snow event steady for fifteen hours. He notes frigid New York news of 37 below zero and reports on local land value rises and new church buildings. He describes convict road labor a system where prisoners build main roads under an engineer with stone and dirt work. He recalls his brother Jim leaving a year earlier and thanks Brimfield friends and Woodmen for support at burial.
