State patrolmen Dick Claudin and W. S. Littell were detailed by Sergeant Garry Trautsch to investigate the death of Barry Culbertson and locate those responsible. John Johnson Jubilee highway commissioner Hugh Miller of Brimfield and George Peichenck of Millbrook joined township officers and town clerks from ten counties at the Jefferson Hotel in Peoria. The group planned to defeat pending legislation abolishing township government. Senators Lohman Pékin and Carl Behrman and Representatives C. P. Lott Dave McClugage and Thomas Stack were expected to attend.
Brimfield high school basketball won their twelfth straight game at Fairview Monday night 28 to 20. Rogers led Brimfield in scoring while Rice and Johnson shone in guard and forward positions. The reserves outpaced Fairview 29 to 7 as coach Moak sharpens the team for Elmwood Saturday and a big crowd is expected for the next home game. Next week Brimfield faces Kewanee high at Kewanee, a strong state finals contender last year, adding significance to the matchup.

Seven members of the Epworth League attended a meeting in Elmwood Monday night with no session held. A mothers meeting was held at the school house Tuesday afternoon. Dorothy Kantz spent Sunday night with Bert Coolidge at Elmwood. Raymond Barrett shipped a carload of hogs to Chicago Sunday night Roy White also took hogs to Chicago last week. Mrs Elmer Gilliat is on the sick list. Mr and Mrs Corliss Laisure and Leslie Kelley attended the skating rink in Galesburg Monday night. Mrs Fred Jones and son Carol and Raymond Koeer visited Leo Schello Sunday at St Francis hospital in Peoria.

Irving Bragg, tax collector for Brim field township, announces tax payments at his Brim field shop daily except Thursdays when he will be in Elmwood at Arm strong's Store. Mrs Ida Mae Clark Pollock daughter of J W and Hannah Clark was born in Princeville October 15 1835 and died at her home near Brimfield February 5 1933 at age 47 She married James M Pollock October 24 1906 and had seven children six living The funeral was held at Dunlap Methodist Church February 8 with Rev J N Van Cleave officiating and burial in Prospect cemetery Card of Thanks from Mack Pollock and Family Howard Pollock Earl Rogers and Dale
Reports from the corn belt show rising interest in using corn alcohol blended with gasoline as motor fuel. Iowa legislators passed a bill to permit alcohol manufacture, while Indiana and Illinois consider mandates for fixed alcohol in fuel. Experts say national action, using domestically grown crops, could boost corn prices and farmer purchasing power. Iowa State College research indicates alcohol can be produced cheaply from grains and mixed with gasoline for motor fuel. Continued on page three.
