Death and weddings mark village history in The Files

The February 2 1891 issue notes the death of Evira Wiley Guyer on February 5, the village’s first wedding on May 5 1849, and local lumber purchases. Father Son Banquet Program Announced

Plans are complete for the annual Father Son banquet sponsored by the women of the Union Guard. The program lists Dr KE Nye Rev Kenneith Redfearm, Wayne Coom with a toast to the dads, Murion Smith with a wish to the sons, and a dance titled Danes ot the Teing with musical numbers by Two Sits and a Miss. Dr Maniey McDonald of Bradley faculty will deliver the evening address.

Home Advisor Resigns Position in Deera County

Mise Phyllis V. White has resigned as home adviser of Deera County Home Bureau effective May 1 after serving since January 1, 1945. She will move from Peoria to Dallas Center to care for her father. White previously advised in Paris New Mexico and led a Peoria County organization that doubled membership to 990 with six new units and expanded girls 4-H club work. Her offices are in the Federal Building.

Caucus notices for Peoria area parties announced

Notice of caucus events for the Republican and Democratic parties in Peoria County Illinois dated February 1951. Republicans set February 17 at 2 p.m. in Rosefield Township Roadfield Town House for officers including Supervisor Road Commissioner and Justice of Peace. Democrats hold February 7 at Village Hall Bomfnicia for Supervisor Highway Commissioner and School Trustee. Jubilee Township Republicans meet February 17 at 7 p.m. at the town house for township offices.

Retailers Look Ahead Outlook for the retailer near term

Four hundred retailers from chains and independents were surveyed about the near future. Most expect higher dollar volume but slimmer profits due to rising advertising costs selling costs and payroll. Personnel and prices are the major problems with scarcity of merchandise and uncertainty shaping retailer views. Inflation is blamed for reduced margins while stores face higher costs and consumer prices.

Brimfield Home Bureau Meeting Planned at Miles Home

The Brimfield Home Bureau announces its next meeting at Mrs Alfred Miles’ home in February. Major lesson on Planning and Serving Meals for Large Groups will be by Mrs John Clark and Mrs Earl Collin. Minor lesson on Making Hang bags will be by Mrs Lois Siuteer, Mrs Alfrea Miles, and Mrs Jona Clark.

Grange hall hosts eight public card nights sponsored by the Grange. The events run each Thursday evening in the Dengan Lalee room with play starting at eight.

Mrs Lucy Gilles Birthday Celebration

A large family gathering marks the birthday of Mrs Lucy Gilles with about thirty five relatives visiting at Mr and Mrs Jos Nauman’s home. Guests include the Lottman and Gilles families from Kickapoo and Monica plus friends from Brimfield Peoria and Wyomin. A luncheon of chicken salad, coffee, cake and tea followed a pleasant afternoon of visiting and cards. The birthday cake bore the names Lucy and Line, a grandson celebrating his tenth birthday.

Mrs Mary K Hiermeier dies at Peoria hospital

Mrs Mary K Hiermeier died Monday night at St Francis hospital after a fall at home on Saturday. She lived at 809 St James St with her daughter and son in law, and leaves husband Dr Miermeier, a daughter Mrs Raymond Warrick, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving siblings and relatives in Peoria, Bradford, and Burlington are listed. three sisters and two brothers preceded her. Funeral services set for St Mark's church in Peoria with the Rev James Fitzgerald officiating. Born May 17, 1877 in Brimfield, she married William J. Miermeier in 1908. continuous family ties noted since 1833 in Peoria.

Eskimo Party for Junior Members at Legion Hall

A Junior Camp event held January 6 at the Legion Hall hosted by Gamp 847 Mocern Woodman of America under Mrs Bertha Archibald with Willham Arch bald Lara Mutton and Mr McCowan assisting. Children played games and a confunction theme with prizes to many, refreshments served to 42 members and several mothers.
