The Oak Hill couple Mr and Mrs Coan celebrate the marriage of their daughter Stes Mare Aan Coon to Mr ighe E Sevens of corta ev on January 23. Dr Harvey Rodive of the Pirat ierbosig Church officiated at the ceremony held thirty in the eventry.
Village election to be held April 21 at the village hall. Last day for nominating petitions is March 2. Three trustees serve five year terms and one trustee serves two years. Vacancies include village clerk treasurer and others. Retiring members Cais, Harding and Tucver. Julipo OToole seeks to fill vacancy with Robert Harding running for reelection.
French Grove residents spent a weekend with Stevens near Knoxville visiting Mr and Mrs Dou Miler and Sanarad Cloor along with Mrs Bertha Rosh ing and Cahrstne of Pepia. John and Calvin joined Saturday supper with people from Mia Wi.tyurter. The group attended the 40th wedding anniversary. Kelagg writes from Swaziland about a two week January camping trip and a village visit. They walked and learned Zulu phrases while sharing gospel, reaching many locals.
Chas Cox was elected by vocational agriculture teachers of section 10 to the Kuinos Foundations committee for the Tata area. The foundation funds plaques medals and cash awards to encourage FFA members, expand family programs, and support sponsor partnerships for promoting FFA activities.
Funeral services for Richard F Woodrow were conducted at the Tay of Punerat Home. Born August 1925 to William and Birdvrg Johnson Woodrow, he lived at the home his entire life. He died February 7 in the home after a months illness. He is survived by brothers Rodney of Milwaukee and William, and a sister Mrs Cheslette Fletcher of Brimgele. A service at Brim Geid cemetery followed at Zion Episcopalian church. Rev Herbert Rasey led the service. Pallbearers named Thos Fiyee Andrew Pliyen Frankin Bes Frank Rogers LeRoy Beilatadt.
Mrs Alice Catton died Wednesday at her daughter's home. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Taylor General with Pastor C G Tuland of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial followed at Brimfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Keith and Richard Savage Vern Charles and 3 Catton. Catton was born February 15, 1867 in Brimfield and married Charles L Catton on February 9, 1889. She lived in Brimfield most of her life, later moving to Peoria about 30 years ago. Surviving daughters Mrs Hick and Mrs Blanche Savages, three sons Ralph of Peoria and Forrest of Imowood, 70 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters. She belonged to a prominent pioneer family and the church.
Rural youth group hosts a dance and annual meeting at the Farm Bureau Building. Induction of new officers into their roles follows the event. An educational program includes a mock trial presented by the Bar Association for attendees.
A 1959 board session records the naming of Bel-Wood Nursing Home from Bel-Weea or similar proposed terms. The Georgia County governing body approved the change to Bel-Wood Nursing Home, serving 238 patients with 9 staff, charging 145 dollars monthly.
The family of Altec Catcon extends thanks to friends neighbors and car services for kind expressions of sympathy and the many gifts sent during their time in the hospital. We are grateful for the thoughtful support and consideration shown by all who offered comfort.
The Senior Pilgrim Fellowship of Gaon Church met at Avira Has sebacher's house at 5 40 pm. Seniors played games with youths from East Mao Church to Galesburg and heard a talk on bow and girl relationships. Afterward attendees enjoyed snacks and a ping pong or tic tac toe session. A swimming party is planned for February 28 at the YMCA.
Edwin H Gilbert a longtime Westinghouse engineer and Peoria resident died after a fall on an icy snow covered sidewalk near 1905 Dechman Ave. He was 42 years with a 42 year career at Westinghouse and was buried in Bimfield cemetery after funeral services at Gauss Mortuary in Peoria. He was born August 4 1887 in El Faso and married Mildred Feather in 1930. He was a Presbyterian Church member and active in Beathes Town and Gown Club. He leaves a wife two sons and two brothers who preceded him in death.
Lutheran Lenten midweek services at Paat's Lutheran Church begin Ash Wednesday February 11 at 7 30 pm The pastor Elwood C Tuch will base sermons on Were You There and follow a schedule through March 37 with topics on denial accusation crucifixion and the Last Supper and Good Friday observances.
Freddie Carroll extends thanks to friends and relatives who sent cars and gifts while he was hospitalized, expressing appreciation for the support and well wishes during his convalescence.
An ambitious Valentine Ball event was organized by the Stollom high school team. Tre Tmpos from EKinavace will lead music Candia with a coronation of a queen candidate. Tickets cost 2 dollars and the evening includes dancing and tun music.
