A hog missing for over a month was found in an old coal shaft and returned to owner M Dempsey. It weighed 290 pounds when missing, and about 90 pounds later, suggesting it lived for a month without food or water. Various local items follow including weather, market prices, and notices.
Mrs Henry Reinhart nominated Mrs Ed Johnson for the Good Neighbor of the Day. WMBD notified Wednesday that Johnson was selected and would receive a bouquet of red roses. Reinhart will receive a week's supply of Cream Tex bread.
Birth notices report Richard Savage and spouse of Park Forest as parents of two sons Mark Richard born January 31 with sister Laurie. Bernard German and spouse of Yates City welcome a baby boy February 6 at Graham Hospital Canton with sister Sandra and brother Bennie. grandparents Bennerman Elmwood and Wm Stockham Farmington. also William Ray Han ton born January 30 to Ray Han ton and spouse of Seattle Washington with mother formerly Earlene Cellins.
The Peoria County Council American Legion holds its regular monthly meeting at 8:00 pm on Tuesday February 16 in Brimfield. Commander John OToole of Brimfield Post No 45 welcomes county legionnaires to attend. The 40 8 Clown Band will entertain before and after the meeting and refreshments will be served afterward.
The Future Parmera of America speech contest for Illinois Section Five will be held at 7 30 pm Thursday February 18 in Brimfield High School. Contestants from Peoria Woodford Stark and Marshall Putnam counties will present topics including Should Farm Boys Go to College and Pasture Is Planned Prosperity while defending positions before judges.
The PTA hosts a Family Night in the high school gym on Saturday February 20. A basketball game matches the Country Gentlemen and the City Slickers, followed by square and round dancing with music by Sullivans of Dunlap. Children have supervised entertainment, refreshments, and homemade candy. Admission is 50 cents for adults and high school students, free for grade school children. proceeds buy equipment for both grades.
The Peoria County Home Bureau hosts a February Style Show featuring Simplicity Pattern Co outfits for ages from preschool to adult. A preview airs on WEEK TV February 17 at 12 45 PM. The event at Westminster Presbyterian Church Peoria starts 2 00 PM with a Silver Tea. Katherine Barding, project chair.
Junior members and friends of Camp Mo attend a 847 Modern Woodmen of America gathering in Beimfield on February 9 at 7 30 in Legion Ball hall under Mrs Bertha Archibald and her husband assistance. A Mutton child group makes Valentines for the Southe mission of Peoria. Arabald birthday cake and song mark Archibald's day. Next meeting will be skating and Shamrock 80 with cards to follow by Mrs Seaver Rockitos.

Garry attends Chag Thomas ham event. Me and Mrs W A Brown attend funeral in Chicago for Ur a Browna morder. ChristineNollins visits Galesburg hospital patient. Mrs Barrett hosts guests Mrs Jennie Barrett.
A heartfelt thanks to friends and neighbors for kindness during the loss of our dear brother. Mr and Mrs Clifford Goudy and Mr and Mrs 11 Gundy and Mr and Mrs H. Gibbs express gratitude for thoughtful gestures and support.
The regular PTA meeting is scheduled for Friday evening February 18 at 7 30 pm. All members are urged to attend to discuss upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
French Grove residents shared weekend visits with Topeka and Keokuk relatives including Elizabeth and Dave Oakes while Edith Reed from Keokuk toured the Moore family. A misfortune left a local man with a fractured bone above the ankle. he wears a walking cast and moves about cautiously.
The Legion Auxiliary schedules a 0.5 pan American study session focused on a day sewing event with a cover Genoa nco and a February 23 start at ten AM. The next regular business meeting is February 15 starting at 2.00 PM.
Nineteen members and three guests attended the Brimfield Home Bureau meeting at Oak Hill. Emma Garding led the event with an oven meals demo by Alma Colgan and Alma Endres. Cleo Hall gave the major lesson on study of relation at Koma from Sandpont to Gator. Refreshments by Minnie Martzias and Lillian Beard followed. Next meeting set for March 1:30 at Mrs Rimima Kratzer's Oak Hill. visitors welcome amid mention of spring weather. Local families, including John Bridson and the Griggs, plus Archibalds and Pillmaps, joined in after a Sunday visit. notable dance performance included Sandra Carson and Georgette Werner in a Proctor Center polo fest.
Sweney Service Station will be reopted with Jack Emry as manager. Emry owns the implement house next door, which will ease access and expand customer service on the site.
Allison R Griggs died Sunday morning at his home in Peoria aged 78. He was born February 22, 1871 in Brimfield, son of Bhas P and Mahala Anna Griggs. He married Hattie Waters in Brimfield and had a daughter Zola and two grandchildren. A brother Herman Griggs of Brimfield, a niece Mrs. John Bridsom and Rolland Griggs of Peoria survive. He worked as an explorer for Central Divncis Light Co for forty years until retirement. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Arcadian Presbyterian Church with burial in Brimfield Cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Clifford Camp and Mr and Mrs Herman Griggs express thanks for the kind expressions of sympathy after a bereavement.
Mrs Clara Reed Day born November 19 1852 Brimfield township daughter of Morrow and Janie Reed educated locally. Married Archibald F Day 1902 lived Brimfield Jubilee Nottawa Texas then San Bernardino died January 30 in California survived by two sons Lee Houston and Frank Los Angeles, three grandchildren and siblings. Funeral at Brimfield cemetery conducted by Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem with services in San Bernardino.
The Women's Association of Uaoco Church sponsors a family night on Thursday February 18 at 6 38 PM Atwater in charge of the program featuring an interesting film The Hidden Heart.
Grace Mason and Ray Harlan top the event with high scores 1203 and 259 respectively. Other pairs include Kenoneth Shaw with 104 and May Ewart with Richard Herod at 11h, Procence Miller with Menneth Shaw 2176, and Hunter with C Calle 1268. Grace Mason posts 235 high game among the women.
Millbrook Grange hosts a breakfast fundraiser for Cab Scout pact 153 at Millbrook Grange Balible west of Grimfela BR 150. The event runs Friday February 12 from 6:30 to 10:30 am with pancakes bacon eggs oatmeal and coffee. Proceeds support scouting activities and community meals.
A ham dinner fundraiser at Princeville Methodist Church offers servings at 3 and 6:30 pm on February 18. Donation requested is $150 per table, with proceeds supporting church activities.
A Saturday night dance at Mallbrook Grange Hall features Ralph Ushown's orchestra from 8:30 to 11:30. The event, located a mile from Jens, is hosted by Why Grange with dancing and music.
