Three Injured In Motor Accident Near Kickapoo

Three youths Miss Margaret Purcell of Brimfield Carl Heinz and Frank Gilles of Kickapoo were treated at St Francis hospital after a Saturday night crash when Gilles in a 1939 Pontiac struck a culvert near L. F. Pacey’s farm. Frank Gilles suffered a broken jaw and a fractured collar bone while Carl Heinz had an ear laceration and Margaret Purcell a facial cut. all injuries described as not life threatening. Carl Heinz is not related to Gerald Heinz of the same area.

Limestone liming becomes year round farming state wide

Farmers in Limestone state report growing winter liming activity aided by new roads and local quarries. Farm adviser J W Woisen warns winter liming has medium to strong spur reaction and suggests time for the lime to sweeten. sowing recommended for plowed ground to be planted in spring 1910. Peoria county spread 17 000 tons of limestone in 1928, seen as a milestone for future soil productivity.

County Legion Meeting in Peoria Next Week

The Peoria County Council of the American Legion meets on Wednesday February 15 at 8 o'clock at Premier Pabst Recreation Building in Peoria Heights. Voiture 629 of the 40 and 8 hosts. Commander Adolph B Lauterbach presides. All Legionaires are welcome. Entertainment and refreshments. The Brimfield 4-H club met January 31 at Cadys hall at 7:30. Junior Johnson presided. Roll call 9 members and one new member Roland Lottman. Minutes read. Next meeting February 14 at Walters Clarks. Mrs Karl Christian thanks friends for flowers cards and calls while in hospital and at home. Mrs Christian is improving nicely.

Elmwood Post members plan a Cash Prize Amateur Contest to be held February 17 and 18 at 8 pm in Elmwood High School gymnasium. Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln, left Barrard Law School to accept a captaincy in the Ularon Army. He narrowly avoided attendance at a theatre party on the night Lincoln was assassinated and witnessed later events including Garfield’s shooting and McKinley’s death, vowing never to attend a presidential sanction again. Trunks opened on July 26, 1911, may reveal sidelights on the Great Emancipator.

Alexander Snedden dies at home after long mining career

Alexander Snedden, born January 4, 1860 in Ayrshire Scotland, died Monday evening at his home. He came to America at age ten, worked as a miner and later as superintendent of a Pekin area mine until 1934. He married Matilda Vaughn in 1888 and celebrated their golden anniversary recently. Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM at Wilton Mortuary chapel with burial in Lutheran cemetery. widow Mrs. Sueddeo survives.

Mrs George Minar Dies After Snowbound Illness

Mrs George Minar mother of Mrs Siehon Reents died at the Reents home following illness after heavy snowstorm blocked roads to her Oak Hall area. She leaves husband five daughters and four sons. Funeral services are held at the Reents home with burial in Jubilee township Lutheran cemetery.
