Dental Health Week Promotes Early Child Dentistry

Early dental care can prevent costly decay and build positive habits. Dentists can spot decay with mirrors and X rays, apply fluoride, and place space maintainers for permanent teeth. Discussed are sixth year molars, malocclusion, and modern wire appliances for alignment. Parents are urged to introduce children to dentists early and keep visits normal and reassuring.

Rural Youth Banquet Plans for Valentine Event

Peopta county Rural Youth group organizes its annual Valentine banquet at Wilder Waite school on February 14 starting 6 30 p m with a dinner by Peoria County Home Bureau and a 9 to 12 Valentine dance. Ed Dalhaus of Almota Agriculture Association will speak and King and Queen of Hearts will be crowned. Tickets available from Rural Youth members or the farm office, reservations due February 13.

Boy Scout News Promotes Scout Sunday Activities

In observance of Boy Scout Sunday on February 8 all Scouts parents and leaders are urged to attend their church in uniform. Cub Scout Pack 163 showcased transportation themed crafts and tracks at January meeting and plans a Blue and Gold banquet for February. The 48th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America is noted with a handicraft exhibit at Memer's store window and a broader Boy Scout week runs February 7 to 13.

Adult Farmer Classes Resume Evening Sessions At Brimfield

Adult Farmer Evening school restarts Monday January 6 at 8 00 p m at Brimfield high school. Open to all farm folk including ladies with current farm problems. Two meetings set February 9 and 16 with topics on swine feeding and diseases February 16 livestock outlook and market trends. February 23 features a representative from Chis Piler Co New York discussing feeding problems.

The Brimfield Home Bureau will meet at Emma Sarding’s home to discuss sewing machine efficiency and a minor lesson on home nursing. The session is set for Friday, February 6 at 1 30 p m with the new meeting day announced.

Death of Margaret Maher Morese in Elmwood Hospital

Margaret Maher Morese died at 3 10 am on February 4 at Elm Hayes hospital Elmwood after a brief admission. Born March 14 1879 in Brimfield township she was daughter of Maria and Catherine Doran Maher. She leaves oneager Mra Mellie Garrell a brother Marry Maher and three nicces six nephews. A member of St Josephs church and the Altar Society services Friday at St Josephs Church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at Roberts Carroll farm home with rosary at 8 00 pm.

French Grove Charlene Bateman returns to Normal University to continue studies. Stanton Moore and Rae hosted by John Shaffer family for a dinner. Rev Wilfred Young of Peoria dined with Mr and Mrs Wm Kellogg. Elizabeth Oakes came home Saturday from Urbana for a day vacation between semesters. Society contributed $14 to the fund. Telephone Company Seeks Larger Rate Hike in Illinois

General Telephone Company of Illinois filed for a rehearing with the Illinois Commerce Commission over its March 1982 request for local rate increases. The company sought 1.932 million dollars annually, but was granted only 458 thousand. Taxes absorb most of the increase, leaving a small net for the company. President Burton W. Saunders said the approved raise is insufficient for a fair return and to support ongoing expansion, threatening future service improvements.

Polio Benefit at Kickapoo Hall February Event

A polio benefit party is sponsored at Kickapoo Woman’s Hall on February 6 with games at 8 o'clock.
