Mrs Ghar E a Wagner thanks relatives friends and neighbors for the get well cards candy and fruit she received during hospitalization at Methodist Hospital while recovering from surgery.
Mrs Susie Rogers thanks everyone for cards flowers letters and calls during her stay at the Methodist hospital noting appreciation for the support shown.
John DeVries returns home last Tuesday after surgery. He wishes to thank friends who sent cards and called during his hospital stay.
The first of four evening card parties sponsored by the Mewer Grange will be held in the Leg Hall at 8:00 Wednesday January 4. The event includes cards and lunch. Mr and Mrs Francis Vale Crove plan to visit Mt Sterling Saturday night to spend Christmas with relatives.
Thomas Scott Powell died Sunday evening at his farm home near Southport after a long illness. Born Mapleton November 16 1869, he was the son of Albert T Powell and Margaret Jane Scott Powell. He married Jane McCullough October 14 and lived in the county as a farmer. Survived by wife and one daughter Mrs Adam Sloan, three grandchildren Mrs Jean Marie Daves of Chillicothe, Jack and Sharon Sloan, and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St Mary’s Chapel in Kickapoo with Revs Harrilacoo of St Joseph’s and Sheehan of Elimwood officiating. Burial was in Cavalry cemetery.
The Community Chorus resumes Monday January 9 after a brief break. Interest grows as members rehearse for spring public performances. about 34 regulars exist with 60 as a target. All who can sing are welcome to join and help, regardless of training.
The Brimfield district 309 Vocational Agriculture Department will host a winter series of meetings at Brimfield High School starting 8:00 pm. Speakers include De J G Hackelman, Dr George C Decker, Harold Kelly, A Kincaid, Dick Herm, L J Fletcher, F W Anderson, Chester Anderson, Cecil Musser, Mar old Smith, with topics ranging from crops and tension sociology to farm law and veterinary matters.
French Grove residents and relatives shared Christmas visits with nearby families including Mr and Mrs W. E. Carte and kin, Miss Mary Lake and Delwin Mogere, and Mr and Mrs A. R. Moore with Dale Eleanor and Gene. Community members attended memorial services for Mrs Lelah Custer in Elmwood Saturday. various households hosted guests and supper gatherings through the holiday.
Bwazel Shaffer spent Christmas weekend at her Pontize ar home and Mr and Mrs Dale Clark announce a revival starting December 28 at St Francia hospital. Paula Ann visits grandmother. Alice Clark and Harriett care for mother absent. Ivorid Moline and Arje from Lafayette with Stutler in Champaign spent Christmas Day with June Ron Catton and Carrie Slanchard. Bdene Wyman suffers a fractured nose and leg cast from an accident when brake on left front wheel stuck on December 8. Clarence Kellstadt family hosts Christmas dinner with Faymington guests.

The marriage of Mias Bebha Shoemaker to Bloyd Hester was announced for Wednesday December 21, 1994 in East Moline. An at home date January 1 was listed at 740 Twentieth Ave East Moline. The bride is from the Shoemaker family, connected to Rev and G D Shoemaker, lifelong East Moline residents with Congregational ties.
Families at Leland Waittaker home hosted Loyd Whittaker and several guests including Sam Whittaker Thomas Riggen and Merna Mabel Shine Weldon Riggen and wives. Oysters were served as numerous relatives and friends from Peoria West Jersey Kewanee and Toulon joined in holiday meals.
