Brimfield defeated Dunlap 49 to 42 in a hard fought basketball game. After a 12 12 opening quarter and a 24 24 halftime, Brimfield pulled ahead in the third and fourth quarters for the win. Dunlap 41 Brimfield 2.
More than 200 guests filled Brimfield High School for a reception honoring Ludwig and Mary Hasselbacher Thormay on their 70th anniversary. A program featured music by students, a piano medley, marimba numbers, and a skit. The couple’s six children and 19 grandchildren attended, and Mary, born December 18 1856, celebrated her 91st birthday during the event. Local officials and community members from Peoria to Normal sent greetings.
French Grove Robah Helloggia returns Wednesday from a six day vacation. Holland Learned and Margaretta Garter visited the McGlelias Clark home Saturday. W. E. Garter and daughter Louis Steecker visited E. B. Hawiey home in Elmwood Saturday evening. Eleanor Shaffer returned Monday with Dan McCoy after a week with Verne Shaffer in Peoria. Glyde Sateman family moved to their new home with her parents Caster. Verne Shaffer and Jim Winter to visit Weed Carter on Christmas day. John Shaffer family to stay with Milo Stevens at new Knoxville area home.
The Brimfield Unit of Home Bureau will join the Paraaiae Unit at the home of Mrs Louella McClellan for a 1:30 p m meeting on Wednesday December 31. Major lesson is yeing and minor lesson 18 program planning.
Alumni basketball team hosts a double header at the icz gym Friday night with games starting at 7:30. Home for holidays are Fred Johnson from the University of Colorado Jack Welsh from Poine Dick Savage from DePauw Dean Shane from Milliken Helen SehmIt Mary Edwards Bob Knight from Normal Clark Edwards from Western State Ano Day Mary Notzke Clifford Hessel Donala Weigh Robah Wycoff and Lois Mae Kington.
A playful notice notes Tuesday afternoon shines bright as Santa plans to travel by plane or car since there is no smooth sled run for a slide. It reflects a lighthearted local view on coordinating holiday delivery despite the lack of snow.

Martha Catton McCartney died in Peoria at her sister Linzie McGrane's home on December 21. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Matilda Schlink widow of Daniel M Schlink aged 54 of Oak Hill died 9 10 45 am Friday at Methodist hospital. Born July 29 1892 in Rosefield township Peoria county she was daughter of Joseph and Anna Plack. She married in 1914 in Peoria. he died in 1920. Survived by father Joseph Plack Oak Hill three sons Henry Earl Schlink and M Sgt Harold Schlink of Sault Ste Marie Mich four brothers Clarence Theodore Otto and Walter Plack all of Peoria three sisters Lena Anna and Levina Plack of Oak Hill and Ethel Goulter Rene Reicheneker and Evelyn Flowers of Peoria two granddaughters. Funeral at his father’s residence Oak Hill 1130 am then Trinity Lutheran church 2 pm Reverend Richard W Brenner officiating. Burial in Kiczapoo cemetery. The Peoria Star.
A group of younger BHS alumni revived the Alumni Association after a decade of inactivity. Harold Pacey and Clifford Hasselbacher led as officers, with Ann Day as secretary treasurer. A campus supper featured music and dancing with violin selections, piarimba numbers, and Christmas songs.
