The native community accompanies the Blakeways parish family as Curtis Blakeway, youngest son of Rev and Mrs Blakeway of the Tinton Church, dies after a two week battle in Proctor hospital. Despite an operation and medical care, infection from an appendix proved fatal early Wednesday morning.
The third annual Princeville holiday basketball tournament begins New Year’s Eve and runs four evenings. Elmwood Dunlap and other strong teams, including East Peoria Chillicothe, enter, with three Wednesday games and a Thursday finale. Fans urged to support local teams at Princeville.

Min Mary McDonnell Macy McDeestu died early Tuesday after several weeks of illness. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 oclock at St Josephs Church with Rev C J Williams officiating. Interment will be in Kickapoo Cemetery, east of Tow s.

Gene Carter visited a school Friday. A Christmas program will be given by Nightengale and Frech Grove pupils at French Grove. Local folks attended the Dan Kuntz sale. Anna Oakes expects home from Champaign next Wednesday for a visit through Monday. Mr and Mrs Erman Kirtley hosted a surprise birthday party for sister Mrs Kuta McMullin of Elmwood. Attendees included Mrs Perfill, Evelyn and Clifford, Mr and Mrs Clark Biederbeck, and Mr and Mrs Ted Biederbeck. An oyster supper was enjoyed. Mrs Francis Botinus Ester started the Social Siz Cub Thursday.
St Joseph parishioners staged a toy play and carols at the Community Building last Saturday evening. Santa Claus greeted children, distributed gifts at the decorated tree, and a quilt raffle was won by Allen Keinhast. Brimfield guest and Bethlehem scenes were featured with Christmas pictures on the center-top screen.
Me and Mrs Elzia Kraeser of Beardatown are unending a few days. Mr. and Mrs Bart Thomas were called to Jacksonville by the death of an aunt. Miss Marjorie Couter of Yates City visited her aunt. Mrs Emma Harding and Mrs Grover Nizen were Peoria shoppers. Dr Merten of Elmwood attended a sick home. Several have the flu. The Cout school nurse visited the teacher and pupils. A large steam shovel arrived Friday and work began Monday cutting down the hill east of Charles Hall's.
A strong crowd enjoyed the sacred Christmas Cantata at the Methodist Church, featuring choirs from Yates City and Brimfield Churches. The performance was also presented at Yates City on Sunday evening.
Grade school pupils presented a festive Christmas operetta at the Community Building on Tuesday under music supervisor Miss Norma Elinor with help from faculty. The Smith family's tale of being forgotten by Santa provided the storyline, while the toy band from grades three and four and a chorus from higher grades added special numbers.
