School News Plans Christmas Program With Santa Visit

An assembly by the student body organizes a Christmas party season with officers President Bob Carman Vice President Mary Jane Pluck Secretary Bob Smanc Treasurer Jana Muara. The Grade School Xmax program is Friday night December 14 at 8 00 in the high school gym with the operetta Merry Xmas Mr Snowman. All grades 1 8 participate under director Pauline Trigger. Afterward the Brimfield American Legion Post welcomes Santa Claus to distribute candy. Admission is free.

Fretch Grove and Korth Families Gather for Thanksgiving

Polled Hereford show visitors Fretch Grove and Mra Carl Korth returned from Little Rock Ark and spent Thanksgiving week with the Carter and Korth households. Gertrude Kellogg, recently home from missionary teaching in South Africa, arrived safely in New York City after travel via Pan American route. French Grove Improvements Society met at Mrs Bois Kellogg’s home with Mra Bila Kellogg hosting, devotion led by Misa Mobah Oakes, and members sewing dressings. Birthday greetings were sent to Mesdames Verne Shaffer and Lydia Parcell. Refreshments by hostesses.

Frank Bowman Dies in Los Angeles Family Noted

Frank Bowman died on November 8 in Los Angeles after a fall. His niece Miss Pio Bowman and the Bowman family, longtime community figures, mourn his loss and recall his early years.

Mrs Faceva Challacombe Funeral Held in Jubilee Jubilee

Funeral services for Mrs Faceva Challacombe were held December 16 at Bouton Memorial Home Princeville with Rev E L Fernandes officiating. Interment followed at Jubilee Cemetery. Born December 25 1867 in Nossa ville she was daughter of John and Elizabeth Hutchison Shapley. Survived by husband Charlie Challacombe and three children James Charlotte and Lois all of Jubilee two granddaughters Roberta Feltoe of Belvidere and Charlotte Ana Challacombe of Jubilee plus nieces and nephews. Member Arcadia Presbyterian Church Peoria she remained active and independent until illness. She would have turned 89 on Christmas Day.

William Bowen Dies After Heart Attack At Home

William Bowen 49 died at his home after a heart attack. Born in Cuba on August 20 1987 he was married to Willi Johnson on March 1 1930 and leaves two children Kenneth and Dorothy, a mother Mrs Julia Forbes, a brother Edward and four sisters. A World War II veteran, he worked at Caterpillac Tractor Gu for the past ii years. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Patterson Funeral home in Elmwood with Rev Merle Williams in charge and burial followed at Comba cemetery near Edwards.

Verne Shaffer visited in the home of Milo Stevens and Mr and Mrs Stanton Moore, then with Mrs Busssett Davis in Peoria. Clark says outgoing mail closing times during December 12 to 22 are 10 30 AM 12 Noon and 4 30 PM The post office which closes at 12 30 PM on Thursday afternoons will stay open until 5 PM Thursday December 20 This week forms are available to speed Christmas card mailing by sorting cards into local and out of town recipients Additional forms available at the post office.
