The Grange will hold an ice cream social in the Dengan sales room on Saturday evening August 26. Guests can enjoy ice cream cake and pie in a community gathering with proceeds to support local activities.

Young men aged 19 to 26 may enlist in the regular army for a period to be filled. Eligibility requires a mental test score of 7 or higher. The recruiting office is in Room 62 of the Pesha Post Office building and opens seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Corporal James Abbey is available Thursdays 10 to 12 a.m. at Brimheld Post Office. Free outdoor movies Saturday night.
Old Settlers Day drew many attendees from Galifornia Florida New York Kentucky Iowa Nebraska Michigan Texas Pennsylvania and Indiana. Names listed include Myr and Mrs Dave Drysdale William Chamberlain Fred Gherch Mildred Tully Mrs Janet Bimmel Randy Mrs Wilds Gerard and Joyce Mr and Mrs Archer Jennesa and children Robert Minor Mr and Mrs Rey Nichols John Stewart Cady and others. Prizes were awarded to James A Smith of Princeville George 83 and James 80 oldest brothers, William Vogelsang 94 oldest person, and Mrs Porter Kingdon Whittier California who traveled the farthest distance.
The public is invited to visit the tew million dollar Forest Park Home St. Francis Hospital Mission today August 24. Visiting hours are 4:00 to 9:38 p.m. The new structure serves convalescent and chronically ill patients with a capacity of 120 beds and includes departments for therapy and rehabilitation. The home is linked to the hospital by a tunnel beneath the street and operated by Sisters of St Francis Hospital.
Local call for Uncle Ezry's Hayloft Jamboree announces September 14 15 at Brimfield with cowboy tunes folk songs and two modern numbers. Amateurs may perform under professional guidance and vie for cash prizes of 10 7 and 5 by audience vote. Local residents plan to attend and seek further details in the paper.

Buddy Silver and James Coon received an A rating at the Springfield State fair on Wednesday for a worming procedure demonstration. Judge from Indiana praised the effort. They attended with coach Fred Silzer and Mrs Silzer, 4H leader Earle Collins, Merle and Mrs Merle Coon, Mary Ann and Nancy Kou.
The Board of Education of School District No 309 Peoria County Illinois announces a tentative budget and appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year starting July 1 1950 on file for public inspection at Kenneth Hamilton's residence after noon July 28 1950 in Brimfield. Theodore Fussner known as Ted was found pinned under his overturned tractor in a farm pasture near Douglas. He left home at 8 that morning and was found by his wife and a neighbor in a creek about half a mile from the house. Funeral services were held in Elmwood with Rev McNally officiating.
Brimfield children starting first grade or new students not in school last year may register before school starts. The high school office is open daily, announced by Superintendent John P. Alien. Registration for high school students will end Friday Sept 1 with a faculty meeting that day.
Noel Belania son of Mr. Carol Melania Davidace of Mt. Morria born while his father the late Fred Mcluomis was band Anatracter completed the eighth grade this year. The Gareldarider family of Detroit Mach. are spending two weeks vacation with relatives and friends Peoria and viclory, Mra Crider is a sister of Mra Albert Laneze and fami ly resided here for some time before going to Detroit.
