Old Settlers Picnic A Splendid Success In Brimfield

The eleventh annual Old Settlers Picnic at Brimfield turned a rain delay into a bright afternoon spectacle. Elmwood’s band lifted spirits as 2500 to 3000 attendees enjoyed music, an oration by Rev. Geo T. Simmons, a lighthouse of community pride, and assorted contests with prizes. Visitation from Peoria and nearby towns surged, with a balloon ascent led by Prof. Ashlock, and a closing band concert. The event honored local deaths and listed attendees from Galva to Chicago, marking a resilient, well attended rural celebration.
