The Cost of Medical Care and Health Insurance Debate
The piece argues against compulsory government health insurance citing Brookings data that medical costs about 4 percent of a typical family's income versus 20 to 30 percent in taxes. It warns costs could reach 2 to 6 billion dollars annually and favor non profit plans covering 55 million people with lower monthly costs. It suggests government aid to fund memberships in approved non profit plans as a compromise.
