Miss Gladys J Cox comes home after two weeks with Mr and Mrs Elmer Daily in El Paso. Little Larry Allen Dailey will spend two weeks with his grandparents A E Cox and wife. Mr and Mrs Joe Heinz of Peoria tour to the Great Lakes and Canada on a motor trip. The Incredible Vampire But Science feature teased from The American Weekly magazine.
Farmers Automobile Insurance Association of Pekin Illinois sponsors a August brake inspection campaign for policyholders. About a hundred Central Western Illinois garages donate free checks of brakes lights horns and steering to promote safe driving. Policyholders who pass all checks receive an emblem and premium credit. In 1934 US death toll reached 36000 underscoring risk from inattention speed and mechanical defects. Princeville gears up for a three day homecoming starting Thursday. Speakers include Congressmen Everett Dirksen on Thursday, Edw A Hayes on Friday, and Talmadge DeFries on Saturday. Events feature races boxing parade kitten ball horseshoe pitching tug of war and the Tilley Carnival rides. School bands will provide music.

Residents report the threshing run begins at the Grant place this Thursday weather permitting. Several social visits occur as Mrs Adams Clifton Adams and Mrs Floyd Brittingham cameo at the A R Moore home. Albert White returns home in Elmwood and shows good recovery. Mrs Mae Moore improves with many visitors at the hospital. Mrs Verne Shaffer and family hosted a picnic supper for Gertrude Shissler and Rev and Mrs Doolittle and their children.
Dr. Frank J. Jirka directs a last call registration for the State fair free medical exam at the State Fair better babies conference. Children six months to ten years may compete. registration in Illinois with the Public Health Department in Springfield by August 3 is required for eligibility and free admission tickets are provided. A silver cup and 500 dollars in cash awards will go to the fifty most perfect examined.

The first Bowman reunion gathered Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bowman in Knoxville with a chicken dinner. Attendees included Mrs. Billy Kirk and Fern of Aurora, the Durflingers, the Strappes of Peoria, Ray Bowman and Irene, the Sollenbergers of Brimfield, Bert Maxwell and family, the Park Bowmans, Saaie and Muriel of Yates City, Paul Kare of Laura, and multiple Bowmans from Knoxville.
The second annual Pemble reunion gathered about fifty at Bradley park on Sunday July 28. Local attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Harland Pemble and Mrs. Emma Pemble. Officers elected for the year: president Mrs. Edeon Bowman Yates. secretary Owen Webster. historian Frea Pemble. chaplain Mrs. Emma Pembdle. A group of cars visited Aledo Sunday to surprise D G Shirley who planned a quiet birthday celebration.
Mrs. R EB McNew traveled from Harlan Kentucky to visit brothers Walter and Homer Tucker this week and took Little Miss Mary Helen Tucker home with her after a stay with the McNews.
The Chicago Motor Club will hold meetings in Peoria Waukegan Rockford and Joliet to brief police chiefs justices of the peace and other law enforcement on the new traffic code. Branum warns downstate officials need understanding, noting tougher penalties accident report requirements to the state department and other provisions. Harding attended the Peoria gathering.

Hanna City Farm Bureau team defeated Woodford County 5 to 2 at Hanna City. Wayne Wise pitched and Dale Nelson caught for Hanna City. Woodford County's Bender and Doan were the battery. Kickapoo lost to Henry County 4 to 2 at Andover with McCoy Archer Johnson at Kickapoo and Stevens Manning for Henry. Me Coy struck out eight to Stevens nine. Next games August 3 feature Hanna City versus Henry County at Hanna City and Kickapoo versus Woodford at Kickapoo.
