Skidding Vehicle Hits Schoolgirls Near Nannup

Midnight accident four miles from Nannup on the Jarrahdal Busselton road involved a vehicle driven by G Carroll of Dundinup. Pauline Carroll and V Hartnell suffered leg injuries. the car lights failed as Carroll tried to fix them and another vehicle pulled up, skidding and presumably striking the girls. They were taken to Nannup Hospital.

Nannup Road Board Re-elects Chairman In Tight Vote

The Nannup Road Board reelected chairman E. J. T. Brockman by a 4 to 3 margin over R. R. Rowe. Ford re-elected as vice-chairman and committees include Hutchins Jenkins Rowe Jespersen and Ford. Peter Smith, under Commonwealth Reconstruction Training, was home at Brisetown for a few days.

Nannup Board Bids Farewell to Secretary Solosy

Members of the Nannup Board hosted a dinner at the Nannup Hotel to honor secretary Solosy after years of service. The chairman presented a 21 piece English china tea set and praised Solosy’s zeal, impartiality, and district contributions. Solosy expressed gratitude and recalled his work with the board and staff.

Jardee Mill Set to Rebuild After Destructive Fire

The Jardee timber mill, destroyed in a fortnight old fire, will likely be rebuilt. Manager Mr. G Lydiate said size and nature are undecided but expect information next week. All mill employees have found work locally. most married residents stayed with the firm or moved to other mills, with a few temporarily leaving the timber industry.

Tuckey For 5.W. Province Likely Re-Elected

Retiring member Mr. Hobart Tuckey appears set to be returned for the South-West Province. Latest counts show Tuckey 2 244, Johnstone 1 172, Vernon 1 012, with 13 informal ballots. Also notes Mrs. Tomelty served as a train passenger for Perth on Tuesday morning.
