Sou west farmers new approach to lime and soil fertility
Dr. W Albrecht of the University of Missouri tells the Victorian branch of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science that soil acidity is not inherently harmful when fertility exists. He says lime supplies calcium, which boosts yields, and that plant access depends on calcium release from clay and soil hydrogen ions. Experiments show acid soils can reveal more minerals to plants despite equal total mineral content.
