On the first day back in service, 154 cars operated across Bridgeport and surrounding routes. Trolleymen wore dahlias on their lapels as police monitored traffic, buses filled routes, and jitneys questioned reassignments.
In Bridgeport Catholic churches women are urged to register and vote this fall following the 19th amendment. Cardinal Gibbons and local priests endorse participation. Registration halls open Tuesday to Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. at St Augustine’s Sacred Heart St Charles St Mary’s, with City Hall Room 2 available weekdays 9 to 5 and weeknights 7 to 9 until October 4.
Lewis Bekas of 715 Main street was fined 25 dollars for running a gambling house. Sam John and Sam Joseph of 618 Main street were fined 5 dollars each as frequenters. Sam Habit of 14 Tulip street also paid 5 dollars. Officers from the Bureau of Investigation raided the place yesterday. Police said cards for money were on the table though the men claimed the money was change from a purchase.
Six hundred factory workers escaped to the street during a four alarm blaze in Brooklyn. About 300 women were among the evacuees as firefighters fought the flames. Loss was put at about 150000 dollars.

The Associated Advertising Clubs of the World official Carl Hunt spoke at Stratfield Hotel about advertising as a public service and a local Bridgeport meeting drew about 40 businessmen planning an advertising club. Separately, Wred Scadel of Tunxis Hill Road Fairfield was charged with using abusive language toward a seven year old girl and was fined $35 in City Court.
